Imagining Ellis Island

Among the millions of people who came through Ellis Island, many of them were children traveling alone. Some had parents, grandparents, or family members waiting for them, while others came to America for a new start. Many of these children were taken in by missionaries, synagogues, local citizens, and immigration aid groups, but that was not always the case.
