Greetings, Young Historians,

I don’t know about you, but I never learned about Asia in school. When it comes to Earth’s largest continent, there is so much incredible history, and we had a tough time narrowing it down. In the end, we thought it would be fun to learn about samurai and teach you about who they were, what their life was like, and how their code of conduct still survives today.

The world is a pretty big place. We realize it would be impossible for your teachers to teach you about every single country (there are 195), so we are here to help! This issue only scratches the surface of Japanese history, and to be honest, I wish we could have included more. As with every issue, my hope is for you to use this magazine as a starting point in your research. I encourage you to go to your library or ask a parent to help you look up information to get a better understanding of some of the topics covered. There is so much more to Japan’s long and rich history, and I hope you want to learn more as you read through these pages.

If there is a topic, person, or country you feel we should cover in a future issue, send us a postcard or email with your idea! We love hearing from you, our readers, and want to know what you want to learn more about.

Happy reading!

Cheers,
