A Letter for
Young Historians
Dear Young Historians,
We love getting your postcards in the mail! Most of them have lovely notes that relate how much you are enjoying the magazines. Others are filled with amazing ideas for future issues. By far, Native American history is one of the most requested topics we’ve received.
Like so many of our issues, this seemed like a daunting task to cover. There are several different nations, with distinct cultures and ways of life, so it was hard to find a place to start researching. But as we began coming up with concepts, the issue magically came together.
To compile the longer stories, we found an incredible group of talented Native American writers, many of whom wrote about their relatives’ experiences. And our outstanding illustrators were able to depict Native culture from their own histories.
We hope this issue acts as a jumping-off point for you to explore the Native American way of life on your own. Maybe a cool fact will lead you to your local library to dig deeper. Or perhaps you will learn something that will make you question why many of our ancestors treated the Native people with such disrespect. No matter where this issue takes you, we hope you enjoy the process of learning about a group that has earned our respect, appreciation, and gratitude.
Happy reading!
Best,
Editor-In-Chief
