Allies: a group of countries that worked together during WWII. The main countries were the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, but others fought alongside as well, including Canada, Australia, France, and China.

Axis Powers: the countries that fought against the Allies in WWII, including Germany, Japan, and Italy.

Conscientious objector: a person who refuses to participate in war based on their religious and/or moral beliefs.

Internment: when people are forced to stay in a specific location against their will.

Nuclear weapon: a weapon that releases a sudden burst of energy in
the nuclei of certain types of atoms.

Pacific Theater: where a series of battles took place in the Pacific Ocean during WWII.

V-E Day or Victory Day: a holiday that celebrated the end of WWII in Europe on May 8, 1945.
