If you’re wondering how you can help save the rainforest,
you’ve come to the right place!
Here’s one idea: ask your parent or guardian to purchase rainforest goods, like chocolate and cashews, from sustainable sources. Then use those ingredients to make cookies for a bake sale. Donate the proceeds to an organization that works to restore the rainforests!
SUSTAINABLE SOURCES ARE SOURCES THAT ARE BETTER FOR THE EARTH BECAUSE THEY ARE LESS LIKELY TO HURT THE ENVIRONMENT.
Even better than buying from sustainable sources: buy local! Visit your local farmers market to support the farmers in your area while also helping the earth.
You can also conserve your paper use. The less paper you use, the fewer trees need to be cut down, and the more the rainforests can grow and thrive! Use paper scraps instead of notepads, or make these scraps into an art project. While you’re at it, ask your school to use environmentally friendly paper. And when you are done with all that paper, don’t just throw it away—recycle it.
RECYCLING, USING LESS ENERGY, PLANTING TREES, AND COMPOSTING ARE ALL GREAT WAYS WE CAN HELP PROTECT OUT PLANET.
In addition to that cool new art project, you can also do a presentation about the rainforests. Talk about sustainability, preservation, and the importance of keeping the rainforests alive and healthy.
But before you do any of that, you should start by educating yourself on what and where the rainforest is. Take out a map and get to know the parts of the world where rainforests grow and what kinds of goods come from such places. Foods like chocolate, açaí, beef, and sugar often come from rainforests.
REMEMBER:
THE SMALL STEPS YOU TAKE NOW CAN ADD UP TO A BIGGER AND BETTER FUTURE FOR EVERYONE. YOU CAN MAKE THAT DIFFERENCE!
